The cost-of-living in Columbus is quite affordable.  Real estate is reasonable, with small 2 bedroom single family homes starting at around $100,000.   Lovely 3 bedroom homes can be had for under $200,000.   Very roughly speaking, every $100,000 buys about 1,000 square feet of house.
