Cities
Much of Georgia was burned to the ground
during the Civil War when General Sherman marched from Atlanta to the
sea
in 1864. In towns that were spared his
destruction, antebellum homes and restored
historical districts provide a journey to a
bygone era. Georgia's largest cities are
Atlanta, Augusta, Columbus, Savannah, Athens and
Macon. Each is distinct, each offering a
unique southern experience.
